Here's how: Click on the link (at right) to Yahoo! The site will open in a new window.
NOTE: the instructions here are for Yahoo! but you can apply the same information to other email programs.

Yahoo

STEP 1: Look for the words "Sign Up Now" and click on it. Then click on FREE.

STEP 2: This will bring you to a form to fill out that will contain your personal information. All you need to do is to fill in the boxes with the correct information.

Follow the guide below to fill out the form.

Username or User Id (at Yahoo they call this your Yahoo ID or screen name) This is a name you pick for yourself that will appear in your email address and on all your emails. It can contain no spaces and is case sensitive, so be careful about using capital letters.

Some simply use their name, like maryjones. Others pick a catchy nickname like tomcat or kittycat. Pick one that will be easy to remember and easy to type.
Tip: You might want to write it down somewhere in case you forget it.

Password
This is different from the ID. This is a word that will be like your key to get into your email account. You should pick something that you can easily remember. It must be 6 letters or numbers long or can be a combination of letters and numbers.

Tip: Again, you might want to write it down so you don't forget it but you should NEVER give someone else your password as this will allow them to log in to your personal account. Security with email info is very important.

All of the above services offer FREE accounts. To decide which one to use, compare what each offers. Good things to look for are:
a large mail box
an address book
a filing system

Receive these

Q: I don't receive many emails. How can I get more?

A: The best way to get emails is to send emails. When you contact friends they will answer you back.

You must also give out your email address. If your friends don't know it, they can't send you mail.
But use caution and only give your email address to those you know.

Your Answer	Type in your answer to the question
Birthday	Enter your birthday
Current Email	Leave this blank
First Name	Enter your first name
Last Name	Enter your African Name or last name
Language and Content	Choose English/United States
Zip/Postal Code	We do not have a zip code here but you must type something in the box. Type in 11111
Industry	Select "Other"
Title	Select "Other"
Special- ization	Select "Other"

Submit the Form Back to the Top

STEP 3: Next you will see three boxes. They are:

List my new Yahoo Mail address
Send me special offers, and
Send me more Info.

TIP: DO NOT TICK THESE 3 BOXES. IF THEY ARE ALREADY TICKED, UN-TICK THEM BY CLICKING ON THE BOX. Believe me, you do not want to check these boxes because you will start to receive a lot of junk mail and you don't want that.

STEP 4: Now it will tell you to Enter the word as it is shown in the box below: Simply type in the word you see, make sure you typed it correctly.

STEP 5: Now click the submit button and wait. If everything is correct, it will tell you that your account is now open.
If there is a problem, a message will tell you what to do.

Most Common Errors Back to the Top

You get a message saying the User ID is already taken Choose another ID or you might just add a number or an underscore. For example, if yourname@yahoo.com is already taken, you could try yourname2 or your_name.
Just keep trying until it accepts one.

You left a box that is required empty
Simply use the back button and fill it in again. Then scroll down and enter the new word you see and click submit again.
